Why I Built BarkSkip

BarkSkip was built out of desperation. My dog Gus was an active TV watcher. It was always fun having him watch with me, until an animal entered the screen. Gus is extremely TV-reactive to so many things on screen: any animal, ringing doorbells, sirens, and even the actor Zach Galifianakis (Must be the beard).

Movie nights turned into exhausting hover-sessions over the remote. I couldn't watch the movie because I was too busy anticipating the next trigger, ready to hit mute or fast-forward before chaos erupted in the living room.

Streaming platforms have parental controls for kids, but nothing for our pets. Since I couldn't find a tool to help us, I built one.

Now, I want to share that peace and quiet with other reactive, TV-watching dog owners.
