Why I Built BarkSkip
Our dog, Gus, has always been an active TV watcher. It’s fun having him watch with us; until it’s not. Gus is extremely TV-reactive to so many things on the screen: any animal, ringing doorbells, sirens, and even the actor Zach Galifianakis.
Movie nights turned into exhausting hover-sessions over the remote. I couldn't actually watch the movie because I was too busy anticipating the next trigger, ready to hit mute or fast-forward before chaos erupted in the living room.
Streaming platforms have parental controls for kids, but nothing for our pets. Since I couldn't find a tool to help us, I decided to build one.
Now, I want to share that peace and quiet with other reactive, TV-watching dog owners.
